Welding & Metal Fabrication (MIG/TIG/ARC)

Practical welding and fabrication covering SMAW (arc), GMAW (MIG), and GTAW (TIG) welding processes, weld symbol reading, distortion control, and structural steel fabrication project work.

What you will learn

  • Set up and operate SMAW, GMAW, and GTAW welding machines safely and select correct consumables
  • Produce quality bead-on-plate runs, fillet welds, and butt joints in flat and horizontal positions
  • Read and apply weld symbols from engineering fabrication drawings to practical work
  • Fabricate a structural steel component from drawings including cutting, fitting, welding, and grinding

Who it's for

Open to all FET students with mechanical aptitude. Welding safety induction is mandatory before any practical welding.
