3D Printing & Rapid Prototyping
FDM, SLA, and SLS additive manufacturing technologies, slicing software setup, design for additive manufacturing (DfAM) principles, and post-processing techniques for engineering applications.
What you will learn
- Explain FDM, SLA, and SLS 3D printing processes and compare their material capabilities and applications
- Prepare a 3D model for printing using Cura or PrusaSlicer with optimised layer, support, and infill settings
- Operate an FDM 3D printer safely, load and change filament, and troubleshoot common print failures
- Apply post-processing techniques including support removal, sanding, priming, and surface finishing
Who it's for
Open to all FET students. CAD experience in any package is helpful but not required.
