Masonry & Block-Laying Techniques

Sand-cement block-laying, bond patterns, mortar mixing, reinforced masonry, and wall finishing techniques for residential and commercial construction in Cameroon.

What you will learn

• Mix mortar to the correct consistency and proportion and apply it in uniform bed and perpend joints
• Lay blocks in stretcher, English, and Flemish bond patterns to correct line, level, and plumb
• Construct reinforced masonry walls with filled cores, lintels over openings, and movement joints
• Apply raking-out, pointing, and rough render finishing to completed masonry surfaces

Who it's for

Open to all FET students and apprentice bricklayers. Physical fitness is required.
