Carpentry & Joinery — Doors, Windows & Furniture

Timber joinery for door and window frame manufacture, fitted furniture construction, wood surface finishing, and safe tool use and maintenance for the carpentry trade.

What you will learn

• Select correct timber species and grade and calculate material quantities from construction drawings
• Produce standard timber joints including mortise and tenon, halving, housing, and dowel joints correctly
• Construct, hang, and hardware-fit an internal door frame and door leaf to correct alignment
• Build a simple fitted furniture carcass (wardrobe or kitchen unit) and apply primer and finish coat

Who it's for

Open to all FET students and apprentice carpenters. Basic toolcraft skills are helpful.
