False Ceiling & Gypsum Board Systems (Drywall)

Suspended metal framing, gypsum board installation, tape-and-joint finishing, decorative ceiling coffers, and acoustic and fire-rated drywall systems for commercial and residential projects.

What you will learn

• Design and set out a suspended ceiling grid including hanger spacing, perimeter track, and height calculations
• Install metal framing (perimeter track, main runners, cross channels, and hangers) and fix gypsum board to the framework
• Apply tape-and-joint finishing to achieve a smooth, flat, paint-ready surface
• Construct a curved or stepped ceiling coffer and install a flush access panel correctly

Open to all FET students. Basic toolcraft skills are helpful.
