Hydropower & Small-Scale Hydro Systems
Hydrology, run-of-river scheme design, turbine selection, civil works, penstock design, mechanical and electrical integration, and feasibility study preparation for small-scale hydropower in Cameroon.
What you will learn
- Conduct a basic hydrological study using flow duration curve data to estimate run-of-river power potential
- Design scheme components including intake, headrace, forebay, penstock, and powerhouse layout
- Select the appropriate turbine type (Pelton, Francis, Kaplan, cross-flow) for given head and design flow
- Prepare a small-scale hydropower feasibility study covering technical, economic, and environmental aspects
Who it's for
FET civil or electrical engineering students. Hydraulics and basic electrical systems knowledge is recommended.
